Praised for her “fire” and “vocal drama,” Wisconsin native Hayley Lipke is emerging into the opera scene as a “praise-worthy soprano”. Lipke received her B.M.  and M.M. in Vocal Performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University under the tutelage of Jane Dutton and Gary Arvin.  With Indiana University Opera Theater she has entertained audiences as Violetta Valéry (La Traviata), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Gertrud Mutter (Hänsel und Gretel), Rosalba Montealban (Florencia en al Amazonas), and Gertie Cummins (Oklahoma!).

In addition to her love for operatic performance, Lipke is no stranger to the Oratorio repertoire. Praised as an “outstanding soloist”, Hayley has performed as the Soprano Soloist in Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem with the IU Jacobs School of Music in the 100-year anniversary of Armistice Day under the direction of Betsey Burleigh. Additionally, Hayley sang as the joyful Soprano Soloist of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with Louisville Orchestra in their Season Finale with Conductor Teddy Abrahms.

The soprano has continued to gain recognition in major competitions in the operatic repertoire. Lipke is honored to be a recipient of the Bel Canto Foundation’s Bella Voce Award (2015), The Georgina Joshi International Fellowship (2018), and a Graduate Assistantship at Indiana University (2017, 2018). Lipke is equally as excited to be named a winner of the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale at the graduate level (2017), National Society of Arts and Letters in the Indiana Chapter,  the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions for the Indiana District (2017, 2018, 2021), and a finalist in the Mildred Miller International Voice Competition (2019).

Lipke enjoyed entertaining the audiences of Indianapolis as the Resident Soprano Artist of Indianapolis Opera for their 2020-2021 season. In the fall, she brought Cio-cio San to life in their live-streamed, socially distant production of  Puccini's Madama Butterfly.  In the spring she covered Butterfly and sang Kate Pinkerton in their mainstage production of the show, performed as Lola in Douglas Moore's Gallantry, and portrayed Lucky in The Not-So-Ugly Duckling. Following her residency, Lipke covered Donna Anna in Indianapolis Opera's production of Don Giovanni

Most recently, Hayley has enjoyed singing the roles of Fiordiligi (Cosí fan tutte) and Desire Armfeldt (A Little Night Music) with Quisisana, covering Fiordiligi (Cosí fan tutte) with Cedar Rapids Opera, and competing in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition where Hayley was named a winner of the South Carolina District in January 2023. She looks forward to returning to Quisisana this summer to sing as a featured soloist on their concert series and bringing life to Verdi's Violetta Valéry in 18 performances of La Traviata throughout the summer.
